LETTERS AUCTIONED OFF AT 2ND TOKAJ VINEYARDS MASQUERADE BALL

The 2016 Tokaj Vineyards Masquerade Ball, held on 13th February for the second time in Bodrogkisfalud, included a charity auction of the letters that make up the village's long name. The letters had been created as large, individual pieces of art, using winemaking-related waste materials, at a creative typography autumn camp for young people last September. The funds raised at the Ball will be used to extend the BMX skatepark, built from the proceeds of the wine auction at last year's event.

Originally thought up by renowned local winemaker Judit Bodó (nee Bott), the Tokaj Vineyards Masquerade Ball is now a recurring event where dozens of by-invitation-only guests, many of them winemakers from the region, dress up to represent the name of one of the over four hundred historical vineyard sites of the Tokaj region.
