TOKAJ SPRING WITHOUT WINE AUCTION

0

Following last year's setback at the Tokaj Wine Auction that saw a mere 55 per cent of lots sold and the total hammer price the lowest since the first in 2013, the Confrérie de Tokaj has decided to skip the 2019 edition in the hope of regaining momentum for a relaunch in 2020. Tokaj Spring, the series of events that is normally centred around the auction, was, however, held on 27th April in the village of Mád. It was a familiar, low-key celebration of the community that the Confrérie de Tokaj represents, and included an amazing vertical tasting of Aszú wines from 1993 to 2013 at the Education Centre of Mád, as well as the solemn 'intronisation' of four new Confrérie members in the cellar room under the tasting venue.
